Solicitor – Litigation Team

Within the Litigation team, you would provide high-quality legal services to clients of Pitt & Moore.

Working alongside two Partners and other key team members across a range of practice areas – including relationship property matters, civil litigation, employment, and estates, you would contribute to our firm’s mission of providing outstanding legal services and making a positive impact on the lives of our clients, while also growing as a legal professional alongside a trusted and credible firm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation, analyse statutes, regulations, and case law, and provide well-reasoned recommendations to senior lawyers and clients.
  • Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents: Prepare legal documents such as contracts, agreements, pleadings, and briefs under the guidance of senior lawyers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Court Representation: Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences alongside senior lawyers to observe proceedings and, when appropriate, represent clients under supervision.
  • Client Communication: Interact with clients, maintain regular communication, and provide updates on case progress, legal strategies, and potential outcomes while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Case Management: Assist senior lawyers in managing case files, organizing documents, and maintaining accurate records, ensuring cases progress efficiently and effectively.

Successful applicants will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the legal team, contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Continuously update your legal knowledge and stay informed about changes in legislation, regulations, and relevant legal developments.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, adhering to the firm’s code of conduct and professional regulations.
  • Possess a valid law degree and be admitted to the New Zealand Law Society as a Barrister and Solicitor.
  • Have up to three years experience post qualification.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex legal issues and provide sound advice and solutions to clients.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing for clear and effective communication with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Display meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in legal documents, research, and analysis.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional integrity, ethics, and client confidentiality.
