Pitt & Moore is pleased to announce the addition of specialist Fiona McLeod to their Resource Management and Environmental Team.
Fiona is a dedicated Resource Management practitioner with substantial experience and expertise in environmental, resource management, local government and conservation law.
Pitt & Moore has over two decades of experience in all aspects of the Resource Management Act, having worked in this area since the Act’s inception in 1991. Fiona will work alongside Pitt & Moore Partners Graham Allan and Marty Logan in the Resource Management and environmental law areas.
Fiona McLeod is an accomplished advocate and has represented clients before councils, courts and tribunals on resource management, Maori, freshwater and conservation law matters.
“I enjoy the challenges of the resource management environment, and I understand how tough it can be traversing the complexities of the legislation. My background means I’m able to take consenting issues from the drawing board right through to development,” she says.
Partner Graham Allan says Fiona brings a unique mix of complementary skills to her new role.
“Fiona’s background in areas including resource management in the corporate law, a senior lawyer for the Department of Conservation, as well her experience as a Treaty of Waitangi and Maori legal issues lawyer is incredibly useful for our clients. She has the latest knowledge on any aspect of the Resource Management Act and other environmental legislation and is a great asset to our clients.”
Graham Allan says Fiona is also valued for her approachable and friendly way of working with clients.
As well as advising clients on consenting strategies for large or small business ventures and developments, she is able to represents clients’ interests in resource management plan development and appeals.
She has experience in representing Maori development and protection interests in resource management processes.
Fiona is also Secretary of the Nelson branch of the Resource Management Law Association and a Board member of the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary Trust.
