With a background that includes information technology and a commerce degree as well as his law degree, it’s no surprise that Mark is specialising in commercial law. He has always enjoyed the business environment and when he pursued a career in law it was with a drive to work with business clients.
Mark is part of Pitt & Moore’s commercial team and says he’s soaking up the many decades of experience from his senior colleagues and loving the learning experience. He has worked supporting the team on various areas of commercial law including company governance and structuring, financing, securities, compliance as well as advising on general company law. Mark says the complex nature of commercial law is something he relishes.
His previous experience includes time working for a Christchurch company set up to fight insurance claims on behalf of home-owners after the Canterbury earthquakes. He also has a background in information technology so is no stranger to taking client ideas and visions and turning them into something tangible.
Mark is a rare thing – a Cantabrian who had never been to the Nelson region until 2016, but he sees now why so many people move here for lifestyle reasons. He’s already a convert and is able to pursue his obsessions with mountain biking and hiking. And to prove he loves standing by an underdog he’s a resolutely devoted Warriors fan.
Favourite tip about the regionMark says he’s still exploring the region and there seems to be adventure in every direction. So far, his favourite spot is Robert Ridge in the Nelson Lakes area (also the top spot of Pitt & Moore Partner Sian Holden!). “I’d also recommend doing an overnight trek and staying in Angelus Hut near Nelson Lakes or one of the many huts in The Kahurangi National Park".
