Heather leads Pitt & Moore’s Employment Team and has almost 20 years’ experience guiding employers and employees across the full spectrum of employment issues. She is often called upon to advise clients on complex, high risk or strategically significant employment matters.
Since commencing her employment practice in 2008, Heather has built a wealth of knowledge and experience assisting hundreds of clients to navigate both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She advises on all aspects of the employment relationship, including workplace investigations, disciplinary and performance issues, restructures, redundancies, medical incapacity matters and workplace disputes. Heather also advises on employment law compliance, health and safety, privacy, protected disclosures and contractual issues, and represents clients in mediation and Employment Relations Authority proceedings. Her practice extends to employment due diligence for business acquisitions and the drafting of a wide range of employment agreements, contractor agreements and workplace policies.
Heather combines strong advocacy skills with a deep understanding of the personal and workplace dynamics that often sit at the heart of employment disputes, helping clients steer through difficult situations and achieve the best possible outcomes.
When approaching disputes, Heather has achieved a very high rate of success in securing positive settlements for employer and employee clients, avoiding unnecessary litigation and demonstrating her approach of effective resolution for the people she represents.
In addition, Heather is one of the few lawyers in New Zealand specialising in both employment law and immigration law. She regularly assists corporate and private clients with a range of immigration matters and issues where employment and immigration law intersect.
Actively involved in the employment sector, Heather is a current committee member of the Nelson Tasman and Marlborough Network of Human Resources New Zealand.
